Judith Simon Prager
Profile:
Judith Simon Prager is co-author of The Worst Is Over: What To Say When Every Moment Counts, which has been called "The 'bible' for crisis communication" by The International Journal of Emergency Mental Health. That book has been described by Christiane Northrup, MD as, "the answer to a prayer. It gives everyone, from parent to firefighter, the knowledge and courage to say exactly the right thing at the right time in a way that is healing, uplifting, and also life-saving." She is also co-author of Verbal First Aid: Help Your Kids Heal From Fear and Pain--and Come Out Strong, described by Bruce Lipton, PhD, as "far more than a parenting guide. It is a profound prescription for nurturing our children and evolving civilization to the healthiest levels possible!" She has written a children's book on the subject, Owie-Cadabra's Verbal First Aid: A Somewhat Magical Way to Help Heal Yourself and Your Friends, that so delighted not just children but the doctors at Children's Hospital of Orange County, that they've ordered a case of the books for all the waiting rooms. She has trained physicians, nurses, caregivers, parents, and first responders across the United States and around the world, in New York immediately after 9/11 and even in China after the devastating earthquake in 2008 took 80,000 lives. She is currently on a tour of children's hospitals, training pediatricians and nurses in Verbal First Aid. She explains: Verbal First Aid can turn a scare into a comfort, a hurt into a healing, and a potential trauma into a memory of courage. She also teaches in the UCLA Ext. Writers' Program, the largest program of its kind in the country, with her husband Harry Youtt. And she has a private practice in Los Angeles, using hypnotherapy and energy techniques to help people move beyond trauma. Her program for Guided Imagery for Surgery has been tested at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and her program for developing healthy emotional templates before birth, Bonding With the Baby Within, was tested at Beach Cities Health District.
