Activated carbon Made from coconut shell husk carbon that is heat-treated to open up pores, which absorb the contaminants. These systems are the most common & are very reliable. However there is a significant difference in the quality of these systems & the level of contaminants removed as well as lifespan. Carbon filters come in many different styles from portable bottles (Waterman, is my favorite), Jug filters, Bench top, tap filters, under sink plumbed in & whole of house systems. Most are easy to install or require no installation, which are becoming more & more popular with today’s increasingly mobile

For the uninitiated we are not talking about sci-fi ray guns or anything quite so fanciful. Likewise far infrared rays should not be confused with ultra violet rays (from the sun). Simply explained, infrared ray is a form of light/heat or life energy known as Chi or Ki, which is transmitted into a source. A good example is when you are outside on a day with moderate temperature, when all of a sudden a cloud blocks out the sun, in an instant you feel a temperature drop as the rays are not penetrating through the clouds & yet the ambient

Simply put, yes I am & so are you! Our lifestyles are ageing us prematurely & much like a neglected ship, without proper maintenance, our lifespan can be significantly reduced. We’ll now start exploring the different states which water can be found & technologies, which are introduced in filtration, to create the ideal water for our bodies. Many people drink lots of water & yet still find themselves feeling thirsty & dehydrated. This is due to the suitability of the water to hydrate us effectively & more often than not, most tap water & many bottled water brands fall well

Water filters are nothing new & have been in circulation and commercially available to consumers for around 150 years. We have examined the common contaminants found in tap water. As far as the choices of filtration go, there are many, which we’ll discuss next week. There are products that have stood the test of time & many more which have been here one day & are gone the next. Water filtration has seen highs & lows in popularity & has been the subject of scoff & criticism by many, whilst equally hailed as one of the most important domestic devices

“Ideally, drinking water should be, clear, colorless, and well aerated with no unpalatable taste or odor. It should contain no suspended matter, harmful chemical substances or pathogenic micro-organisms”. Despite these guidelines our water supplies come to us at the point of consumption with many undesirable qualities. Our water resources are under attack! Industrial contamination of our water resources may become the single biggest issue we will have to deal with in order to sustain life on Earth. As we battle with droughts, climate change & an ever-growing population, demand for quality drinking water has never been greater. Our governments have

Pt 2 In the previous episode we touched on the health benefits & effects of hydration. Here I would like to go into this a little further. Water plays a vital part in our body’s ability to transport all nutrients through our system. The carbohydrates, proteins and minerals that our bodies use as food are metabolised and transported by water in the bloodstream. Equally important is the ability of water to transport waste mater out of our bodies. To maintain proper functionality of our vital organs, cellular regeneration & waste management we need to consume approximately 1 litre of water

Pt 1: Introduction Nature’s Water All life on earth is created from water & depends on it for survival. Our planet has been successfully recycling the same water on our planet for millions of years. The water cycle, otherwise known as the hydrologic cycle is the process or movement & distribution of water on Earth. The process involves many different states in which water is found, including liquids, solids & gas. Water passes from river to ocean to atmosphere then via precipitation (rain, hail, snow) returns to earth/oceans where surface run off, ground water infiltration & discharge creates fresh spring
