Shonagh Walker

Profile:

Shonagh Walker is viewed as one of Australia’s most trusted, experienced and widely read beauty and lifestyle writer, having worked with almost all of the country’s major magazines and newspapers. Shonagh began her career in Fashion Assistant at Woman’s Day, under the editorship of legendary media identity, Nene King. Within six months of employment, she was given the title of beauty writer and within twelve months, was graded as a journalist and promoted to Beauty Editor – achievements that for most young cadets take four years or more. In 1994 Shonagh joined teenage bible Dolly as Beauty and Lifestyle Editor, quickly establishing herself as one of the most respected Beauty and Lifestyle Editors in the magazine’s history. It was there that Shonagh was lucky enough to help “discover” Miranda Kerr, who has since gone on to become one of the world’s most sought after supermodels, and in Shonagh’s view, one of the most beautiful ladies on the planet (inside and out). In July 1998, Shonagh joined SHE Magazine as Lifestyle and Beauty Editor and remained there until October 1999, when she embarked on her successful freelance career. Since this time, Shonagh has worked consistently as a freelance beauty, health and lifestyle writer across all major women’s magazines, as well as men’s titles, newspapers and websites, both in Australia and throughout the world. Shonagh wrote her first book in 2001. It was published in seven countries. In Australia and New Zealand it was titled Cellulite, Not Just a Fancy Name for Fat (HarperCollins, December 2001). In the United Kingdom it was titled Cellulite, My Arse! (Vermillion, May 2003) and in the United States, it was given the title The Cellulite Secret (Source Books, March, 2005). Shonagh is a multi-award winning lifestyle journalist who is passionate about her work, and the people who read it.
